Origami. Kirigami. Paper airplanes. Papier mache. Papermaking. Scrapbooking. Making paper, and making things out of paper; that's what this lens will be about. As you probably can tell, paperfolding may be my favorite!

The art of paper folding, or origami, has received a considerable amount of mathematical study. Fields of interest include a given paper model's flat-foldability (whether the model can be flattened without damaging it) and the use of paper folds to solve mathematical equations.

- Many years ago we were a military family, assigned to Germany. Our first Christmas there, we made homemade ornaments. I used old greeting cards and punched holes around the edges, then crocheted pretty red borders with a loop for hanging. We tried our hand at origami, too. It was one of our most memorable Christmases.
